This juicy, tender, and flavourful appetizer was invented in the southern part of India at a restaurant named “Hotel Buhari”. The chef who invented Chicken 65 was Mr. A.M. Buhari who was once also appointed as the Sheriff of Madras.

Why is it called Chicken 65?

Mr A.M Buhari who invented and served this iconic dish for the first time in his Hotel Buhari, On the year of 1965. Because of the fact that this dish was invented in the year 1965, The dish since then has been named Chicken 65.

How to Prepare Chicken 65?

Ingredients:

Recipe of Chicken 65: 

 

Marination – Mix chicken, yogurt, red chili powder, bedgi chill,  ginger garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, black paper powder, chopped curry leaves, and salt in a bowl. Stir the bowl continuously until the chicken gets coated.

Now, Make a mixture of rice flour, egg, cornflour, and all-purpose flour with the chicken. Make sure the chicken gets evenly coated.

Next, Warm the oil in a deep frying pan, and fry the coated chicken until they become golden brown in color (about 5-6 minutes). Once the process is done, 

Tarka Preparation – Heat 2 tbsp oil in a separate pan and sauté chopped green chilies, garlic, and curry leaves until the aroma fills in the air.

Now, Add Tarka to the fried chicken, giving it a good toss to coat it in the aromatic oil. Turn off the heat and serve hot with lemon wedges or your favorite accompaniment.
